HOW DOES HARK UP DO CHRISTMAS?
Hark Up Christmas is a unique, high-energy combination of music, movement, and visual media that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Christ.
Every year we design and produce a show full of new, exciting songs to provide our audiences with a fresh and fun show time after time.
This annual inventive and invigorating musical show combines the talents of local vocalists, dancers, and musicians to make up a cast of nearly 300 and has been entertaining West Michigan for 20 years!
This year Hark Up is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with it’s biggest show yet! Combining your favorite songs from the past 20 years as well as some of your favorite guest artists – this is going to be a show you will NOT want to miss.
Hark Up is celebrating its 21st year providing West Michigan with music, community, and high caliber Christmas productions. Over the past 20 years, with our Christmas shows alone, we have performed and shared the story of Christ’s Birth to over 80,000 people. Originating at Fair Haven Church in 1999 and eventually moving to our current home, the DeVos Center for Arts and Worship, we are blessed to continue this tradition. This would not have been possible without the many, many volunteers who have selflessly given their time, energy, and passions to these productions. From singing and dancing to playing an instrument or acting in a scene, from selling merchandise and ushering to building the set and running the lights, our volunteers are the heart of who we are. Over the years the number of participants in the Christmas Show has steadily grown, with Christmas 2018 exceeding 300 volunteers! This means that over the past 20 years nearly 4000 people have been a part of this vibrant Hark Up Christmas Show Community.
With a combination of new talent as well as some of your favorite alums, each year Hark Up’s spectacular vocalists will surprise you with the craft and skill that they bring to the show. Each number provides a different combination of soloists, ensembles, children’s choirs, and our incredible 80+ person adult choir. From strong ballads of traditional Christmas favorites such as O Holy Night sung yearly by Shannon Dykstra to masterful live performances of some of today’s most popular hits, our extraordinary singers dedicate over two months of rehearsal preparing to deliver their best to you at every show.
